1 Ukrainian Soldier Killed, 21 Wounded; AFP Stringer Injured in Last Day’s Fighting Along Front

According to Col. Aleksandr Motyuzyanik, a representative of the Ukrainian presidential administration, one Ukrainian soldier was killed and 21 wounded in the last day, Unian.net reported.

He said Russian-backed militants continued to shell Opytnoye and Vodyanoye using tanks and artillery. He noted that two civilians were injured in Avdeyevka on June 11 and June 12, and city infrastructure was damaged from militant shelling.

An AFP contributor has been wounded after his house in Donetsk came under shelling, and has been taken to a hospital in Donetsk, AFP and Ukrnews.today reported.

Aleksandr Gayuk, the AFP stringer, told RIA Novosti he was not feeling well but his injury was not life-threatening:

“The shelling was very intense. I was lucky – the injury is not deep. I have been given first aid,” Gayuk also told RIA Novosti.

AFP reported that Gayuk was wounded in the knee, and checked out of the hospital after receiving 12 stitches.

Two civilians were killed and nine wounded in shelling this past week, according to Ivan Prikhodko, head of Kuibyshevsky District where Gayuk’s house is located.

According to ukrnews.today, Lugansk Region Governor Hennadiy Moskal said Russian-backed forces fired Grad missiles yesterday, June 13 on Troyitskoye (Troyitske), Krymskoye, Katerinovka and Rodina.

First an enemy drone was spotted over the village, after which fire was opened from the side of the occupied town of Pervomaisk. Firing on Troyitske repeated at night (the last time was after 0300 Kyiv time on Sunday). Local residents were forced to be hiding in basements and cellars.

Moskal said the body of a 37-year-old Ukrainian soldier killed by a booby-trap was found in the forest. It was not clear if this was the same soldier killed which was announced in Kiev.

Ukrainian troops across the Severodonets river also came under fire. Katerinovka and Rodyna were shelled throughout the night until 5:00 am. Several houses in Rodina were damaged, and power was lost in Katerinovka.
