Ukraine Reports 30 Attacks Overnight

The Ukrainian military claimed at 6:30 this morning that Russian-backed fighters had opened fire 30 times since 18:00 last night.

According to the ATO Press Centre report, Ukrainian-held settlements outside Donetsk, including Avdeyevka, Nevelskoye, Troitskoye and Krasnogorovka, came under fire from infantry fighting vehicles grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms.

To the northeast, Russian-backed fighters reportedly used mortars and heavy machine guns to attack Ukrainian positions in the Zaytsevo and Mayorsk areas, north of Gorlovka, and Luganskoye, southeast of Artyomovsk.

In the Lugansk region, Ukrainian positions near Troitskoye were shelled with 82 mm mortars while in the south of Donetsk, positions near Shirokino and Granitnoye were attacked with small arms.

Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, a military spokesman for the Presidential Administration, told journalists later today that there had been an attack near the Novotroitskoye checkpoint, between Volnovakha and Donetsk on the highway to Mariupol, with 11 mortar rounds fired.
