2 Ukrainian Soldiers Wounded; 4 Detained at Court Protest in Kiev

Col. Andriy Lysenko, spokesman of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation] issues said that 2 Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in firing by Russia-backed militants near Avdeyevka (Avdiivka), UAToday.TV reported.

Col. Lysenko said 3 Russia-backed militants were killed — one of them shot dead by a fellow militant, Aleksandr Kondrashov at a checkpoint — and one wounded.

These casualties were not confirmed, however by Eduard Basurin, the self-styled “defense minister” of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” in his daily battle report. He claimed that Ukrainian forces fired on Yasinovataya with a tank and 82-mm, 120-mm and 122-mm artillery, as well as on Zaytsevo, Mikhailovka, Spartak, Sakhanka, the outskirts of Donetsk, and the villages of Aleksandrovka and Zhabichevo.

The ATO reported at 6:00 am on its Facebook page that militants had fired 34 times on Ukrainian positions.

On the Luganskoye line, small arms and machine guns were used near Novoaleksandrovka and Novozvanovka. A sniper was active in Novoaleksandrovka. Militants fired on Stanitsa Luganskaya with grenade-launchers, machine guns and small arms.

On the Mariupol line, the “quiet regime” was violated by militants with small arms in Pavlopol, Shirokino, Starognatovka, and Maryinka and grenade-launchers near Baganovka.

On the Donetsk line, militans used grenade-launchers, machine-guns and small arms to fire near Avdeyevka, Kamenki, Verkhnyetoretskoye and Zaytsevo; 122-mm artillery was also used on Avdeyevka and 82-mm and 120-mm artillery on Verkhnyetoretskoye and Avdeyevka. 

4 drones were observed in the ATO zone.

Then at 18:00, the ATO reported on its Facebook page that militants had fired 17 times.

On the Mariupol line, Pavlopol, Shirokino, Novoselovka Vtoraya and Gnutovo were attacked with small arms and grenade-launchers; an 82-mm artillery was used in Pavlopol.

On the Donetsk line, thee was firing on Avdeyevka and Novgorodskoye with grenade-launchers, machine guns and small arms; a 120-mm artillery was used on Avdeyevka.

On the Luganskoye Line,, there was firing near Novoaleksandrovka and Nvozvanivtsi with machine guns and small arms; a sniper was active in Novozvanivtsi and militants used grenade-launchers, machine guns and small arms on Stanitsa Luganskaya.

Ukrainian forces pulled back forces from the outskirts of Zolotoye to the positions determined by OSCE. All engineered constructions were moved beyond the “red line”. The Ukrainian Armed Forces told the local population that they weren’t leaving the, but they couldn’t guarntee their security.

InfoResist reported that Ukrainian forces are also preparing to pull back from Stanitsa Luganskaya, but fear Russia-backed militants will overrun it as they frequently attack it, notably on September 28, and Ukrainian forces believe they are retreating unilaterally without similar pullback on the separatists’ side.

Inforesist and Gordonua.com reported that clashes broke out at the Appellate Court in Kiev today where a special session was held to determine the measures of restraint for 5 suspects in the murder of 2 policemen who attacked a gas station in May 2015.

Police detained protesters who attempted to break through a police cordon at the court. Censor.net said four activists were detained: Maksim Nepiylivo, Andrei Polivod, Oleg Ovchinnikov and Yuliya Tolopa.

The prosecutor has called for extending the pre-trial detention of three of the suspects.
