Russia-backed forces attacked Ukrainian positions 20 times, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing the ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation] dispatch.

Most of the attacks were near Popasnyaya where one Ukrainian soldier was wounded in battle.

On the Lugansk line, militants used 82-mm and 120-mm mortars to fire on Novotoshkovskoye, Novoaleksandrovka and Troitskoye.

On the Donetsk line, grenade-launchers and heavy machine guns were fired on the Avdeyevka industrial zone, and mortars were fired near Peski.

On the Mariupol one, 82-mm mortars were fired on ATO positions near Pavlopol and Chermalyk.

Meanwhile, the separatist news service DAN-News.info reported that Ukrainian forces fired on the Donetsk Airport, the Volvo Center and nearby areas and also the Yasinovataya environs and industrial zones and town of Staromikhailovka to the west of Donetsk. They reported that Ukrainian forces used 82-mm mortars, an armed BMP and BTR, grenade-launchers and small arms and fired 150 mortars and shells.

One officer of the Emergency Services of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” was reportedly killed, and another two were wounded. Separatists claimed that Ukrainian forces shelled the area in Trudovskiye where the emergency workers were putting out a fire.

The web site of the DNR Emergency Services carried a portrait of Capt. Valery Vdovichenko, who was described as having died of shrapnel wounds while attempting to put out a fire. Pictures of two other officers of the Emergency Services were shown wounded. Shelling was said to have come from the side of Ukrainian forces.
