Moscow courts received 448 claims from Alexei Navalny, an opposition leader, including the principal petition to cancel the results of the elections for the Mayor of Moscow submitted to the Moscow city court.

“According to the information on the number of applications for revocation of the local election commissions’ decisions submitted to the district courts, 447 such applications were received from Navalny. Additionally, on September 16 the Moscow City Court will start pre-trial preparation on his lawsuit to cancel the results of the mayoral elections”, the press service of the Moscow City Court reports.

Earlier, Navalny said he intended to file complaint against 951 local election committees. According to him, the election was illegal, as evidenced by two main facts: the distribution of food packages for pensioners worth about 2 billion roubles at the expense of the city budget, and the exclusive media attention to the personality of the Acting Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

“We believe that the elections in general should be declared invalid because of the use of administrative resources,” said the opposition leader. He noted that the overwhelming evidence will be presented both to the Moscow City Court and the district courts.
