‘Extremely Restless’ On The Southern Front

On Monday, August 7, the Ukrainian military reported a significant escalation on the southern front, Mariupol sector, near the coast of the Azov Sea over the previous 24 hours.

No Ukrainian servicemen were killed but three were injured.

The Ukraine Crisis Media Center reports:

The situation in the ATO zone was extremely restless in the south near the Azov Sea. Russia-backed militant groups repeatedly used mortars, firing around 40 mortar shells at Ukrainian positions. “Some attacks were quite lengthy – one hour or more. The most intense attacks took place in Shyrokyne where the enemy also used Grad MLRS after 22:00 launching 18 missiles,” informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. A 45-minutes hostile attack took place in Novotroitske.  Militants used sniper weapons and automatic grenade launchers. “In total, nine hostile attacks were recorded in Mariupol sector yesterday, six of them involved heavy weapons,” added Col. Lysenko.
